24. ϫⲁⲧⲃⲉ For the word referring to venomous creatures in general (including snakes and scorpions) rather than only reptiles, cf. Aufrère 2013-2014. See also P. Mich. inv. 593, p. 5 l. 14 (KYP M9; KYP T236); P. Mich. Inv. 599 vo l. 21 (KYP M15, T673).

p. 3

1. ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲡⲗⲱⲕ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲟⲩ̈ϫⲁⲧⲃⲉϥ ⲧⲁⲩⲟⲥ Here and elsewhere the scribe uses “counter-catchwords” at the beginning of new pages, repeating the last words of the previous page so that the reading order is clear. For a discussion of this practice in the context of earlier Greek magic, see Blanco Cesteros 2024. For the form ϫⲁⲧⲃⲉϥ for Sahidic ϫⲁⲧϥⲉ, compafre p. 2 (P. Mich. Inv. 599 vo) l. 21 (KYP T673) where there is an unclear letter after ϫⲁⲧⲃⲉ which may likewise be a fai, implying that this might be a dialectal form rather than simply an error.
