This text would seem to be intended to treat a (newly-married?) husband suffering from magically-induced impotence; compare P. Heid. Inv. Kopt. 686 p. 16, ll. 6-8 (257) (KYP M311⧸T166), a recipe with a similar purpose; Cairo JdE 42573 p. 1, ll. 6-10 (KYP M44⧸T44), a recipe intended to bind a bridegroom; and the recipes associated with Psalms 44, 117 and 126 in Hinein⧸Bianquis 1975. |
