Notes:

Parallel text: P. Mich. inv. 593a ll. 1-2 (KYP M191, T205)

The manuscript from which this text was copied (KYP M191) is a fragmentary papyrus sheet that was likely folded in half first, and then again a second time. There is damage along the folds, and while the left half is more or less complete, a quarter of the width is lost at the top, and the entire right half from l. 3. Because of the middle fold, the sheet looks somewhat like a bifolio, which is why it was listed as P. Mich. inv. 593a and was described as probably belonging with P. Mich. inv. 593 (KYP M9), which is a codex (cf. Kelsey 1921: p. 5). It seems that, when copying that text from P. Mich. inv. 593a, the scribe of this manuscript made a similar assumption: he copied the first line of text on the left half until the ⲡⲣⲟ of ⲡⲣⲟⲧⲱⲕⲟⲗⲙⲁ, exactly where the middle crease is located, and continued with the text on the second line of the left half, ⲙ̅ⲛ̅ ⲛⲉⲣⲁⲛ. It is unclear whether he understood what he was copying, as the text as it is here makes little sense. In the translation, we have supplemented “⟨Write on it […]⟩” based on P. Mich. inv. 593a, with […] corresponding to the text on the now lost portion of the manuscript. In P. Mich. inv. 593a ll. 2-9, the text continues and provides the formula and names that should be copied on the prōtokollon, but here the scribe stopped after “amen!”, perhaps interpreting it as the end of the text.
