| Notes: | This manuscript was destroyed in a fire in 1904. The only published transcription by a scholar who had access to it is in Rossi (1894), although Kropp had access to a written copy by Carl Schmidt, who had apparently inspected it before its destruction. In most cases, we use Rossi’s readings in the edition, sometimes preferring those of Schmidt recorded in Kropp where these seem more plausible. Our own suggestions are marked CMPT in the apparatus. Page numbering: The text is written only on the recto of each sheet, so here we number the pages first by their ordinal number of writing (1st, 2nd, etc.), corresponding to the folio⧸page numbers in previous editions, followed by the page number, including blank pages in the count, so that, e.g. the second page written is the third page of the codex: “2nd page (p. 3)”. Since earlier publications do not count the first page, which contains the ritual instructions, our 2nd page corresponds to earlier p. 1. The earliest description of the codex, in Peyron 1876, describes the codex as consisting of 46 pages, of which two (the second folio) were blank. The next description, in Rossi 1894, describes it as consisting of 44 pages, implying that the second folio had been lost. Kropp 1931 (who had never seen the manuscript) misunderstood the two pages as being missing between the second and third pages, but this is not noted by Rossi, and the text that survives does not seem to imply lost pages. Kropp does not seem to have realised that the codex consisted of 44 pages of which only 22 were written, instead apparently understanding it to have 22 surviving pages. 1st page (p. 1) This page is not given a folio or page number in Rossi, Kropp and Meyer.
