Brought to Rome by Silvestro Guidi, prior to 1837 (van Lantschoot 1956: p. 35). Presumably purchased by the Vatican Library from him at some time afterwards.

Notes/Discussion:

Described in ACM as an example of the Sortes Sanctorum, but the note on Trismegistos (probably by F Naether) states that “this is not the lot oracle Sortes Sanctorum / Apostolorum”; on this point see Klingshirn 2002: 76-130.
