Collection History:

The Cpt. 2177 papyri were bought by Sir Chester Beatty in 1957 “presumably from a Cairo dealer” and kept at the British Museum until 1960 when they were transferred to Dublin cf. MacCoull 1985: p. 197.

Notes/Discussion:

As mirrored writing does not appear in amulets but in gems or pattern books that served to produce gems, Zellmann-Rohrer believes that the text could have been copied from a gem or pattern book; near the bottom edge, Zellmann-Rohrer reads βοήθει ἢδη cf. Zellmann-Rohrer 2020: p. 192.
